Feminism and Pop Culture - Networking Travel with Goethe-Institut in co-operation with Missy Magazine

The networking trip, hosted by Goethe-Institut in cooperation with Missy Magazine, focuses on intersectional feminist perspectives of women* working in arts and culture and how to connect those to pop culture. It brings together cultural practitioners, artists, activists from Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Germany to share ideas and practices, engage in a dialogue and discuss strategies to connect feminist viewpoints with popular culture to create spaces for female* voices and expand their audience. The group met in Berlin in 2018 and Jakarta in 2019 with plans to meet again in 2020.

During the 10-day trip to Berlin, Germany the participants visit various cultural events and meet with diverse initiatives, individuals and institutions that work on the intersection of feminism and popular culture in Berlin. 

Organized by Goethe-Institut Indonesien in cooperation with Missy Magazine— a bimonthly German language publication about feminism, pop culture, politics and style, the participants had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with their German counterparts, discuss strategies to connect feminist viewpoints with popular culture and visit a number of cultural events related to the issue." - Katrin Figge for The Jakarta Post.
